Former McKrells fiddler Doug Moody is known as the fishin’ musician. When he is not playing his violin, he is stationed in a small workshop at his Hans Creek Road home crafting his handmade fly rods. A master craftsman, Moody practices traditional bamboo fly rod making from the Adirondack region. His workshop is filled with curios and objects that give his eyes a reprieve from planing bamboo. An inventor as well as an artist, Moody creates custom tools and devices to improve the rod making process, including the beveling machine (as pictured) for rough cutting bamboo strips. His genius also extends to hand tied flies, pictured (fourth from left) is this year's experiment- the "Scottish Fly Remix."
